Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists work within a transdisciplinary team to maximise student engagement and participation during their time at school. The team aims to support students to build independence in all aspects of their school life. At Endeavour Hills Specialist School, our occupational therapists enable students to participate in their academic pursuits by looking at environmental modifications, social skills, and behavioural management.

Areas that occupational therapists support within the school include:

  • Activities of daily living such as toileting, mealtimes and cooking.
  • Sensory input and activities.
  • Supporting students with transitions, either from an activity to another or from locations throughout the school.
  • Provide opportunities for engagement in gross motor activities.
  • Fine motor activities (including handwriting).
  • Perceptual Motor Program (PMP).
  • Develop play skills.
  • Safe bus travel.
  • Training staff on strategies to ensure staff and students are safe.
